Oregon Hardy Wine Palm
One of a kind EXCLUSIVE hardy Jubaea sourced from seed collected directly from our high desert Wine Palms growing in central Oregon! Parent trees had seed sourced from northern Nevada (Zone 7) genetically cold hardy before growing in our cold zone 7 garden in central Oregon. Jubaea chilensis eventually forms a giant of a tree reaching heights of 30 to 40+ feet, depending on climate conditions. It is a moderate to fast grower, and has performed incredibly well in our cold high desert climate in Oregon! It is hardy to at least USDA zone 7b, and parent trees have seen temperatures below -0F for brief periods! The parent trees usually suffer some frond damage but they rebound quickly in spring and look amazing and full by beginning of summer... each and every year! These plants would make excellent additions to your hardy exotic plant collection, or just make a unique statement in your yard. We recommend only planting mature specimens in colder climates, ours are planted in a very protected micro climate and we recommend covering them in winter months.
